Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight champion Ilia Topuria boasted of defeating lightweight champion Islam Makhachev in front of his mentor, UFC legend Khabib Nurmagomedov.
"I will bring (Makhachev) and then talk to Khabib. Khabib, I have to do it," said Ilia Topuria in a report on the MMA Fighting page in Jakarta, Saturday.
Topuria has vacated the UFC featherweight title and will move up to lightweight in pursuit of a two-division title.
"La Leyenda" can't wait to face lightweight king Islam Makhachev and his friend and mentor, Khabib Nurmagomedov.
The fight has not been officially announced, but Topuria has often mentioned the possibility of them fighting in the future.
The number one fighter in the pound-for-pound division of MMA Fighting answered confidently when asked about his superiority. Not only that, he also had a message for Nurmagomedov.
"I, personally, would ask him, what's your favorite choke? Anything, I don't know, the D'Arce choke. I would submit him with that," he said.
While Topuria is still waiting to hear about his lightweight debut, he doubts UFC CEO Dana White will put him in a number one contender fight.
