A step towards a "terrorism-free Türkiye." The Justice and Development Party commends the dissolution of the terrorist PKK organization itself and the laying down of arms.

This came in a post by party spokesman Omer Celik on the X platform, following an earlier decision by the terrorist organization to dissolve itself and lay down its weapons.

Celik considered the decision to dissolve the terrorist PKK itself and completely surrender its weapons, leading to the closure of all its branches, extensions, and illegal structures, to be a "decisive turning point."

He stressed that Turkish government institutions will closely monitor the operation on the ground and present its stages to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

He explained that the decision to dissolve and disarm the terrorist organization must be implemented in a tangible manner in all its dimensions, both internally and externally.

He stressed that this would "create a positive wave in our neighboring region to deter imperialist schemes that use terrorist organizations to wage proxy wars."

He continued, "Concretely achieving Türkiye's goal of a terrorism-free country will allow it to further activate all political channels at a time when politics is mired in chaos across the world."

He considered that this would "strengthen democracy, political life, and national unity, and ensure the vigorous activation of political dialogue channels in all legitimate political arenas, foremost among which is Parliament."

He added, "It will also strengthen awareness that the Republic is everyone's roof, and that our democracy is the fundamental basis for solving all kinds of problems."

The spokesman continued his remarks on the next phase, saying, "The goal of a Türkiye free of terrorism in all its dimensions must be achieved, along with comprehensive and tangible field objectives. Achieving this goal is a gain for all citizens, regardless of their cultural, ethnic, or sectarian affiliations."

He added, "Our fundamental principle is that no matter how different our names may be, all our titles are the Republic of Turkey. There is no question about the characteristics of our state and the values of our people, and there is no room for any step that would undermine these values."

In turn, the Deputy Chairman of the Turkish Justice and Development Party, Efkan Ala, said: "We have crossed a very important threshold on the road to a 'terrorism-free Turkey' with the terrorist organization (PKK) announcing its dissolution and disarmament."

He added: "We have reached an important stage in eliminating and liquidating all illegal structures (of the terrorist organization)."

He continued: "During this phase, the necessary mechanisms will be activated to complete the next steps and manage the process."

"We are moving forward with determination towards the goal of a 'terrorism-free Türkiye' as defined by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Mr. Devlet Bahçeli," he said.

At the end of last February, Öcalan called for the dissolution of all PKK-affiliated groups and an end to its terrorist activities, which have continued for more than 40 years. In the same context, Celik emphasized that President Erdoğan's political will for a "terror-free Turkey" and his comprehensive approach, as well as the historic call by Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahçeli (to dissolve the organization), his stance on developments, and his directives, constitute the foundations for comprehensively strengthening the "internal front" in the country.
