"We are pleased to announce practical steps to open a Syrian embassy in Ankara and a new consulate in Gaziantep," Al-Shaibani said, without elaborating.
Regarding Israel's daily violations of his country's sovereignty, he said, "We renew our call on the international community to hold Israel accountable and fully implement the Disengagement Agreement."
He also renewed the call to lift international sanctions imposed on his country since the era of ousted President Bashar al-Assad (2000-2024).
He stressed that "the voluntary return of refugees to Syria cannot be achieved under this economic siege and international sanctions."
Earlier today, the Turkish Foreign Minister met with his Syrian and Jordanian counterparts in Ankara as part of a trilateral meeting of the foreign ministers of Türkiye, Syria, and Jordan to discuss developments in the region.
On Sunday, Turkish Foreign Ministry sources reported that the meeting will discuss developments and the security situation in the region, as well as the fight against terrorism and common challenges.
