"Today, we affirm our commitment to strengthening military and security coordination between Syria, Turkey, and Jordan. This partnership is no longer an option, but an urgent necessity," Al-Sheibani said during a joint press conference held Monday with his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, and his Jordanian counterpart, Ayman Safadi, following a tripartite meeting in Ankara.
Regarding the repeated Israeli attacks on Syrian territory, Al-Shaibani condemned "the systematic violations of international law and blatant provocations that threaten to ignite the entire region."
He added, "The territorial integrity of Syria is non-negotiable. Syria is a sovereign, indivisible state and will remain so." He explained that the Syrian leadership is currently working to unify "all territories under the authority of the central state."
He continued, "We recognize that this is a complex and sensitive process, but it is necessary." The minister warned that any delay in implementing the agreement "will prolong instability, open the door to foreign interference, and fuel separatist tendencies."
Earlier on Monday, the terrorist organization PKK announced its decision to dissolve itself and lay down its arms in response to the call of its founder, Abdullah Ocalan.
At the end of last February, Ocalan called for the dissolution of all PKK-affiliated groups and an end to its terrorist activities, which have continued for more than 40 years.
In its 40-year terrorist campaign against Turkey, the PKK—designated a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States, and the European Union—has killed more than 40,000 people, including women, children, and infants. The YPG/PYD is the group's Syrian branch.
