Carlos Alcaraz hopes to meet Jannik Sinner in the Roma final when he returns to Rome for the second time in his career, as he prepares to make his debut at the Internazionali BNL d'Italia 2025.
Despite missing the Madrid tournament due to injury, the Spaniard said he has now fully recovered and is confident with his current level of tennis. Sinner, meanwhile, returns to the tournament after completing a three-month suspension for the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
"I'm very happy that he's back," Alcaraz said with a big smile in a pre-tournament press conference, quoted from the official website of the ATP Masters 1000 event, Friday.
"It's been three months. It's obviously been difficult for him and I'm sure it's been a long time. But yes, I don't think there's a better place to come back than at home, here in Rome."
"For me, for tennis, for the fans, it's great to have him back, that he can play in tournaments again," said the Spaniard.
"We're on different sides of the draw. Hopefully I'll meet him in the final. But what I'll say is I'm really happy to see him, his team is here. I think, yeah, I'll enjoy watching him play again, his game."
Despite some lingering concerns about his health following his departure from Madrid, Alcaraz reassured fans and journalists about his condition.
