Amazon revealed the capabilities of its Vulcan robot, which it said can "feel", in handling warehouse work when it announced progress in the development of its warehouse worker robot last week.
"Vulcan helps make work safer by handling ergonomically challenging tasks," Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said in a post on the X platform quoted in a TechCrunch broadcast
He said the presence of the robot would also provide opportunities for the company's workforce to improve their skills in robotics maintenance.
In a blog post about Vulcan, Amazon explained how the robot will work alongside humans, including picking up items from the top and bottom of warehouse shelves so humans don't have to climb ladders or bend over all day.
The human will then collect the items stored in the middle and/or items that the new robot somehow still can't retrieve.
