Bali and Yunnan Provincial Governments Cooperate on Organic Farming in Tabanan

The Bali Provincial Government and Yunnan Province, China, have established cooperation in the field of organic farming.

Bali Governor's Expert Staff for Settlement and Regional Infrastructure, Tjok Bagus Pemayun in Denpasar, Friday, said that Senganan Tabanan Village was chosen as the location for agro-ecotourism planted with organic rice provided by Yunnan Province.

"The Yunnan government wants to help the Bali Provincial Government with food availability, our people are still farmers but they are the ones who help with the funding side," said the former Head of the Bali Tourism Office.

Tjok Pemayun said that in addition to providing funding, Yunnan Province will help regulate the organic farming utilization system, where in addition to its main objective of encouraging community food security and quality, it will also become agro-ecotourism.

"Our hope is that all places (rice fields) must be organic according to regional regulations, so that Bali as a world tourism destination from a natural perspective is already good, now the food aspect is also organic, the people can be healthy and superior," he said.

The Bali Provincial Government also sees that the assistance from Yunnan Province which is utilized in Subak Mertasari, Senganan Village, Tabanan, can also open up employment opportunities, develop a sustainable tourism sector in environmentally friendly agro-ecotourism, and develop tourist villages.
