Deputy Minister of Investment and Downstream/Deputy Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Todotua Pasaribu said the cattle farming ecosystem can support the Free Nutritious Meals program and reduce imports.
"So, our main target is to be able to reduce imports as much as possible. Because this is very potential. Earlier, investors also explained that Indonesia has great potential for us to develop this. We just need to make a big consolidation," said Todotua in Jakarta, Friday.
According to him, the pilot project for the cattle farming ecosystem in East Nusa Tenggara which was discussed today, Friday (16/5) is expected to be realized immediately this year.
"We are essentially starting to discuss creating investments in terms of the ecosystem for these cattle to produce beef cattle and dairy cattle that also have a downstream ecosystem. There will be a dairy industry there, the main thing is that we can support one of the government programs in terms of meat needs for the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program," he said.
The cattle farming ecosystem is a concept about talking about ecosystems in livestock agriculture in the concept of downstreaming. So that the consolidation of all existing forces is the power of land.
