Indonesia is preparing to welcome the most prestigious cross-age walking football tournament in the Asia Pacific, the 2025 Asia Pacific Walking Football Cup, which will be held on November 13-16, 2025 at the Bali United Training Center, Gianyar, Bali.
This event will be attended by Indonesia, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, India, Pakistan, and Qatar.
Each country can send more than one representative. Indonesia plans to send six teams.
The tournament features a walking soccer format, a form of soccer designed specifically for players aged 40 and over for women and 50 and over for men. The main rules are no running, no sliding, and no tackling.
"This is an effort so that the elderly can live longer, be healthier, and have new habits, namely exercising. And everyone knows how to play football, that's the problem. It's just that they are no longer good at it because they are seniors. This is the forum, walking football," said the General Chairperson of the Indonesian Walking Football Association (Persejasi) Hendra Hartono at a press conference in Menteng.
