The Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Puan Maharani said that the visit of Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang to the parliamentary complex, Senayan, or the Indonesian House of Representatives could strengthen the country's relationship with the Indonesian people.
"Of course, his (Li Qiang's) visit to the Indonesian House of Representatives Building is a reflection of the Chinese government and also strengthens relations with the Indonesian people through their representatives in the Indonesian House of Representatives," said Puan when giving a statement after meeting PM Li Qiang at the parliament complex, Senayan.
Puan said that PM Li Qiang's visit could strengthen diplomatic relations between the two countries, which this year are celebrating 75 years of diplomatic relations since 1950.
He also said that cooperation between Indonesia and China has long existed since the Asia Africa Conference 70 years ago or in 1955.
"At that time, Indonesia and China together wanted to free developing countries in Asia-Africa to gain their independence," he said.
