Claiming that the Druze are being persecuted, the Israeli Foreign Minister incites against Syria and calls for international intervention in its affairs.

In statements made via the X platform, Sa'ar claimed that "minorities in Syria, especially the Druze community, are being persecuted by the regime (the new administration) and its militias," he said.

He added, "I call on the international community not to turn a blind eye to the difficult events that Syria has witnessed in recent months, and to play its role in protecting the Druze from the brutality of the regime and its gangs," he said.

This is not the first time Sa'ar and other Israeli officials have incited against the new Syrian administration, claiming it is "oppressing" minorities.

Earlier Thursday, Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Sheibani warned against calls for foreign intervention in his country, stressing that dialogue among the Syrian people is "the path to achieving stability."

On Tuesday and Wednesday, the Ashrafieh Sahnaya and Jaramana areas in the Rif Dimashq Governorate witnessed security tensions following the spread of an audio recording attributed to a member of the Druze community, which included "insults" to the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him.

According to official sources, security forces, in coordination with Druze community leaders, were able to restore calm in the two areas, which are densely populated by Druze residents, following attacks by "outlaw" armed groups seeking to "create chaos and strife."

The General Security Directorate in Rural Damascus announced Wednesday evening the end of the security operation in Sahnaya, the conclusion of a "preliminary agreement" for a ceasefire in Jaramana and Ashrafieh Sahnaya, and the formation of a joint committee to resolve the security tensions in the two areas.

Claiming to be defending Druze rights in Syria, Israel launched airstrikes on Wednesday on the outskirts of the Ashrafieh Sahnaya area, killing Syrian Druze citizens, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

These developments come amid escalating warnings about Israel's attempts to exploit the Druze to impose its intervention in Syria, even as Damascus asserts that all components of the population are equal in rights.

Since 1967, Israel has occupied most of the Syrian Golan Heights. Taking advantage of the new situation in the country following the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad's regime, Israel occupied the Syrian buffer zone and declared the collapse of the 1974 disengagement agreement between the two sides.

Although the new Syrian administration, headed by Ahmad al-Sharaa, has not threatened Israel in any way, Tel Aviv has been launching almost daily airstrikes on Syria for months, killing civilians and destroying Syrian military sites, vehicles, and ammunition.
