Swedish attacking midfielder Dejan Kulusevski is confirmed to be absent from defending Tottenham Hotspur in the 2024/25 Europa League final against Manchester United after undergoing knee surgery. This news was confirmed by Tottenham coach Ange Postecoglou in a press conference ahead of the Premier League match against Aston Villa on Friday (16/5) at 01.30 WIB."Of course it's disappointing news. At first we thought (the injury) was not serious... We only found out how serious it was the day after the match. He has to have surgery which will keep him out for a few months," Postecoglou said on the club's official website.Kulusevski suffered the injury when Tottenham lost 2-0 at home to Crystal Palace last Sunday (11/5).Postecoglou also revealed that Kulusevski is unlikely to play at the start of next season because the recovery process is quite long.Apart from Kulusevski, Postecoglou is certain not to be able to play another Swedish player, Lucas Bergvall, who has been training, but has not fully recovered. However, the Greek coach breathed a sigh of relief after captain Son Heung-min was able to return to play after recovering from a foot injury."He (Son Heung-min) will play, whether as a starter or not, we will see the condition.. he will definitely play at least half a round," Postecoglou said.Tottenham are likely to field their strongest line-up to beat Villa before facing Manchester United in the Europa League final at the San Mames Stadium, Spain
