PSSI plans to add playing minutes for young players in League 1.

President Director of PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) Ferry Paulus said that the regulation on playing minutes for young players in the Indonesian League 1, namely that each club must play at least one U-22 player in the first 11 players for a minimum of 45 minutes, has the potential to increase next season.

The playing minutes of these young players, said Ferry, have the potential to be increased to 90 minutes or one match next season after a request from PSSI.

"For young players in League 1, we do want to increase them according to PSSI's request. This season, the minimum is 45 minutes, and they can be from EPA or other clubs, and next season, the potential is 90 minutes," said Ferry when met by media crews at a press conference at the PT LIB Office, Senayan, South Jakarta, Thursday.

"Because this is a request from PSSI, this is just a leak, because we are waiting for the regulation to be definitive," he added, explaining that this plan is not yet final.

The mandatory regulation to play U-22 players in Liga 1 this season is an effort by LIB and PSSI to provide sufficient flying hours for young players in Indonesia. This regulation previously experienced a slight change because in the previous season, the young players in question were U-23, not U-22.
