LIB welcomes players of Chinese descent who want to play in League 1

President Director of PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) Ferry Paulus welcomed the possibility of players of Indonesian descent wanting to "return home" and play in Liga 1 Indonesia next season.

"Regarding players of Chinese descent who want to play here, I have heard a lot, and if that happens, it will add to the excitement and exposure of Liga 1," said Ferry when met by media crew at a press conference at the PT LIB Office, Senayan, South Jakarta, Thursday.

Previously, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Bhayangkara Presisi FC who is also the Chairman of the National Team Agency (BTN) Sumardji opened up the opportunity for his team to recruit Indonesian national team players who rarely get playing time at their clubs.

This was said by Sumardji after Bhayangkara, according to him, would always promise surprises in every season, after in the 2023/2024 season, his team contracted Radja Nainggolan, who is a former player for Inter Milan, AS Roma, and the Belgian national team.

In fact, Sumardji said, Bhayangkara had established communication with several of the national team players in question, but when asked who the players were that were contacted, he was reluctant to answer. "There are," he said briefly on April 22.

Moreover, the news about players of Chinese descent joining Liga 1 next season is also based on several of them whose contracts have expired with their clubs.
