Erdogan, Aliyev, and Sharif attend the opening of an Azerbaijani airport in Karabakh.

Lachin is the third airport constructed by Azerbaijan in the Nagorno-Karabakh region, which it liberated from Armenian occupation.

In 2021, Azerbaijan laid the foundation for the airport, which has a runway length of 3,000 meters and a width of 60 meters.

The internationally classified airport is scheduled to accommodate 200 passengers per hour and is expected to contribute to revitalizing tourism and trade in the region.

It is noteworthy that President Erdogan also participated, alongside Aliyev, in the opening of Fuzuli (2021) and Zangilan (2022) airports in Karabakh.

On September 27, 2020, the Azerbaijani army launched an operation to liberate its occupied territories in the Nagorno-Karabakh region. After 44 days of fighting, Azerbaijan and Armenia reached a ceasefire agreement, stipulating that Baku would regain control over the occupied provinces
