Erdogan explained that he and Trump discussed the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, in addition to the Syrian file, the Russian-Ukrainian war, global trade, the ongoing negotiations between Washington and Tehran, and other issues of mutual interest.
He added that the two sides affirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, particularly in the defense industries and trade sectors. He noted that he expressed his appreciation for Trump's efforts to end conflicts and affirmed Türkiye's readiness to support peace and stability in the region.
Erdogan indicated that he expressed his desire to host Trump in Turkey as soon as possible, noting that the US president had also invited him to visit the United States. He concluded by expressing his hope that he would meet Trump soon and that this contact would contribute to strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
For his part, US President Donald Trump said in statements via the Truth Social platform that he had a "very productive phone call" with President Erdogan, which addressed several issues, including the situations in Syria and the Gaza Strip, as well as the Russia-Ukraine war.
Trump added that President Erdogan had invited him to visit Turkey, and that he, in turn, planned to visit Washington. He noted the "excellent" relationship he had with the Turkish president during his first term, from 2016 to 2020, which witnessed cooperation on numerous issues.
