Erdogan: The energy race is behind global tensions, and energy security has become an existential issue for countries.

In a speech at the opening ceremony of the renewable energy investment program in Ankara, Erdogan emphasized that energy security has become an existential issue for all countries.

"We cannot read the rising tensions in many regions of the world, from Africa to Asia, from the Middle East to Latin America, in isolation from the energy race," he said.

The Turkish president added: "We changed our bad luck with our discoveries of (natural gas) in the Black Sea and (oil) in the Gapar region, and we raised our country to a higher level with the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant project."

He stressed that their goal is to increase the installed capacity of solar and wind energy to 120,000 megawatts by 2035.
