The Head of the POR Maesa Executive Board, Petrus Reinhard Golose, said that the 2025 POR Maesa International Table Tennis Championship carries the spirit of ending the polemic over dual leadership of the All Indonesia Table Tennis Association (PTMSI).
"PTMSI is a constantly noisy organization, so with the solidarity shown by POR Maesa by holding this championship, it makes this organization (PTMSI) better," said Petrus Reinhard Golose to the media crew after opening the championship in Jakarta, Friday.
Golose initiated the championship held by the Minahasa sports community association POR Mahesa at the Donic Pingpong Center May 9 - 11. The championship was attended by 288 table tennis athletes from South Korea, China, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, and Indonesia.
The championship competed in four categories, namely Kawanua doubles (divisions 7, 8, and 9), Kawanua/non Kawanua doubles (divisions 5 and 6), U-19 mixed doubles, and senior mixed doubles.
Golose explained that the category competed in the championship was specifically for doubles because it has its own meaning in the spirit of improving table tennis in the country.
"Why double? Because there is a philosophy (which is) wanting to work together," he said.
