Government prepares joint decree on child protection in digital space

The government is finalizing a Joint Decree (SKB) between ministries regarding child protection in the digital space, following the finding that almost half of Indonesia's internet users are children.

The latest data from Kemkomdigi shows that 48 percent of internet users in Indonesia are children under the age of 18. Therefore, Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid emphasized the importance of quick steps to create a safe digital space.

"We are currently preparing a Ministerial Regulation as a technical regulation for the implementation of Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 (PP TUNAS), but we realize that the success of this PP cannot be achieved without full support from the education and child protection sectors," said Meutya in her statement.
