West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi said the policy of banning graduation ceremonies for school students from early childhood to high school was intended, among other things, to reduce the involvement of West Java residents in the trap of online loans.
"The main problem is why I stopped graduation activities, study tours, farewells, I was reducing online loans. Because West Java has the highest ranking for online loans, one of the consumption is consumption activities for children," said Dedi during a visit to SMAN 2 Purwakarta with Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid, Wednesday.
Dedi said that the needs of minors to fulfill their desires to use cellphones or school activities outside the essence of teaching and learning make parents end up using online loan services because of economic inability.
