Indonesian delegation invites ASEAN to combat hoaxes that harm children

The Republic of Indonesia delegation at the 17th ASEAN Ministers Responsible for Information (AMRI) Conference invited the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to combat the spread of negative content and hoaxes, especially those that are detrimental to children, by strengthening literacy.

"Indonesia appreciates Brunei's leadership in AMRI and emphasizes that the issues of hoaxes, hate speech, and child safety in cyberspace must be a shared priority. Children are the next generation, ASEAN cannot ignore the threat of negative content they face," said the Indonesian delegation, chaired by the Director General of Public Communication and Media (Dirjen KPM) of the Ministry of Communication and Digital Fifi Aleyda Yahya at a ministerial discussion session themed "MAJU" in Bandar Seri Begawan, May 8, 2025, quoted from a press release from Kemkomdigi.

The theme MAJU stands for "Media Advancing Joint Understanding". In the 17th "ASEAN Ministers Responsible for Information" (AMRI) conference in 2025 chaired by Brunei Darussalam, the theme "MAJU" was chosen as a symbol of ASEAN's aspirations in the information media and technology sector for the advancement of the region.
