In a statement to reporters on Friday, Baghaei said that Araghchi will travel to Riyadh on Saturday to meet and discuss matters with senior Saudi officials, according to the official IRNA news agency.
The visit, according to the spokesman, comes within the framework of "Iran's principled policy of continuously strengthening relations with its neighbors," according to the same source.
According to the Foreign Ministry spokesman, Araghchi will also head to the Qatari capital, Doha, on Saturday evening to participate in the Iran-Arab Dialogue Forum (the duration of which has not been specified).
It is noteworthy that Araghchi's visit comes on the eve of the fourth round of nuclear talks between Washington and Tehran, which are likely to be held on Sunday in the Sultanate of Oman.
Trump is scheduled to begin a visit to the Gulf on May 13, including stops in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE.
On Tuesday, Iran's Nour News Agency reported, citing an unnamed source, that the fourth round of Iranian nuclear negotiations will be held in Muscat on May 11.
Since April 12, three rounds of indirect talks have been held between Washington and Tehran in Oman and Italy to discuss a new agreement on the Iranian nuclear issue.
The upcoming round of negotiations is the fourth high-level meeting between the two countries since Trump, during his first presidential term (2017-2021), withdrew from the historic 2018 nuclear agreement, which stipulated the easing of international sanctions on Iran in exchange for restrictions on its nuclear program.
Tehran adhered to the agreement for a full year after Trump's withdrawal, before gradually backing away from its commitments.
Trump described the agreement at the time as "bad" because it was not permanent and did not address Iran's ballistic missile program, among other issues.
As a result, he reimposed US sanctions as part of the "maximum pressure" campaign aimed at forcing Iran to negotiate a new, expanded agreement.
