Iranian Foreign Minister: We will hold talks with European countries participating in the nuclear agreement in Istanbul.

According to Reuters, Araghchi added that the fourth round of Iranian-US talks, held on May 11, was "difficult" because it focused on the issue of uranium enrichment. He expressed hope that the other side would display "more realistic positions" after gaining a better understanding of Iran's fundamental positions.

The Tehran-based Iran Nuance news website reported on Tuesday that Iran will hold nuclear talks with Britain, France, and Germany at the deputy foreign minister level in Istanbul on May 16.

Reuters reported earlier that Iran's deputy foreign minister will meet with diplomats from the three countries to continue dialogue and discuss their views on the parameters of a potential new nuclear agreement being negotiated between Tehran and Washington.

The Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which has been mediating since the talks began on April 12, will announce the fifth round of talks.

Araghchi's remarks came in response to comments made by US President Donald Trump in Riyadh on Tuesday, in which he described Iran as the "most destructive force" in the Middle East and which starkly contradicted what he called Saudi Arabia's "constructive vision."

"Unfortunately, this is a deceptive viewpoint. It is the United States that has prevented Iran's progress through sanctions," Araghchi added.

Iran and world powers signed a nuclear agreement in 2015 that imposed restrictions on Iranian nuclear activities in exchange for sanctions relief, but US President Donald Trump withdrew from the agreement in 2018.

Trump insists that Iran must not be allowed to possess a nuclear weapon, warning of military action if talks fail. Iran insists that its nuclear program is solely for civilian energy purposes.
