After requesting an explanation from Tools for Humanity (TFH) as the developer of the cryptocurrency management application World App or Worldcoin regarding the operation of its services, the Ministry of Communication and Digital will review TFH's privacy policy and evaluate its compliance with regulations.
Director General of Digital Space Supervision at the Ministry of Communication and Digital, Alexander Sabar said that the ministry had asked for clarification from representatives of TFH, which oversees three World services, regarding the practice of verification by retinal scanning with the lure of money for users of its services.
"We have summoned and clarified with representatives of Tools for Humanity, which oversees the three World services, on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, to request an in-depth explanation of various operational aspects and legal compliance with the World App, Worldcoin, and World ID services," he said.
Alexander explained that the meeting with TFH representatives included discussing TFH's business flow and product ecosystem as well as the security of biometric data for service users who verify using a retinal scanning system.
According to him, the meeting also discussed the assessment of TFH's compliance with personal data protection regulations in Indonesia regarding the practice of providing financial incentives in collecting personal data.
In the meeting, TFH also explained the implementation of registration obligations as an Electronic System Organizer, the limits of responsibility between entities in the TFH ecosystem, the relationship between World ID and national digital identity and compliance with related regulations, the ability of the TFH system to identify and protect children's personal data, and the application of technology for this purpose.
