Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid said that the Press Council needs to redefine its role in order to remain relevant in facing changes in the media landscape in the digital era.
"Redefining the role of the Press Council is important to keep it in line with the challenges of the times, while remaining within the corridor of the Press Law," said Meutya Hafid in a statement received.
Meutya assessed that technological disruption has shifted people's information consumption patterns from conventional media to social media, which often presents information without adequate journalistic ethical standards.
