Minister of Communication and Digital Visits Schools to Socialize PP Tunas

Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid on Wednesday visited a school in Purwakarta Regency, West Java Province, to disseminate Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 concerning Governance of Electronic System Implementation in Child Protection or PP Tunas.

Accompanied by the Governor of West Java, Dedi Mulyadi, the Minister of Communication and Digital visited SMAN 2 Purwakarta to socialize the implementation of PP Tunas in an effort to protect children in the digital space.

"We know that 48 percent of internet users are children under the age of 18. We know that many of these children become victims, be it bullying , pornography, including violence, including online gambling , and we want this PP to be implemented immediately," he said.

He said that PP Tunas includes regulations on the use of social media based on age, including restrictions for teenagers under 18 years of age in accessing social media platforms.

This regulation requires electronic system providers to provide complete, correct and accurate information about the products, services and features they provide and to set clear age limits for their users.

PP Tunas also includes an assessment of the risk level of products, services, and features held by electronic system organizers as well as monitoring and tracking of children's activities on digital platforms.

In addition, PP Tunas regulates protection efforts for children who use digital platforms.

According to the provisions, electronic system organizers are prohibited from collecting precise geolocation information from children and are prohibited from profiling children in order to prevent children from the threat of crime in the digital space.
