Indonesian National Esports Team Head Coach Richard Permana revealed that the selection of the national teams for the Men's Mobile Legends: Bang-Bang (MLBB) and Free Fire for the 2025 Thailand SEA Games was determined through a strict selection and a long process.
"Honestly, this has gone through many stages since December, we have actually been targeting it. The results of the IESF World Championship yesterday were also an evaluation for the National Team Agency," Richard told.
At the IESF World Championship 2024 Riyadh, the Indonesian Men's MLBB national team won bronze but at the 2023 Cambodia SEA Games they lost in the Group Stage.
For the 2025 Thailand SEA Games, the Indonesian Esports Executive Board (PB ESI) has started a national training camp on Sunday (11/5) which has resulted in recommendations mentioning several names.
"Several names were then also given additional indicators, which ones would be in line with our objective targets at the upcoming Thailand SEA Games. Whether it is Team A, Team B, Team C for example. Then we added other indicators, which ones are more suitable to be developed by PB ESI for the next seven months," said Richard.
The indicator takes into account internal and external factors that have been the subject of heated debate within the National Team Council, until finally narrowing down to a team.
