MPR says Indonesia must learn from Russia on nuclear power plant development

Deputy Chairman of the MPR RI Eddy Soeparno said that Indonesia should learn from Russia in terms of developing Nuclear Power Plants (PLTN).

This was stated by Eddy when he met with the First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia, Andrey Yatskin on the sidelines of the XI Nevsky International Ecological Congress held in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Eddy said that currently Russia has a modular nuclear power plant that has been tested and its development is being carried out by the well-known company Rosatom.

"The development of nuclear energy by Russia is a breakthrough in the development of renewable energy at the global level and can be an example for the development of similar technology in Indonesia," said Eddy in an official MPR press release received on Saturday.

Therefore, Eddy hopes that cooperation will be formed between Indonesia and Russia in developing nuclear power plants using methods such as those used by the Rosatom company.

"Through cooperation with Russia in the development of nuclear energy technology, there will be an exchange of technology and innovation in the development of renewable energy with Indonesia," said Eddy.

"So that human resources in the renewable energy sector are better educated and trained with the latest technologies," he added.

Not only discussing the development of nuclear power plants, Eddy and Yatskin also discussed the opportunities to increase the volume of trade cooperation between Indonesia and Russia.
