One person was killed and eight others were injured in a series of "violent" Israeli raids on Nabatieh, southern Lebanon.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health reported in a statement that the Israeli raids resulted, according to a preliminary toll, in "one martyr and eight wounded civilians." The statement noted that ambulance and civil defense teams are working to transport the injured and assess the damage in the targeted area.

The official Lebanese News Agency said: "Israeli warplanes carried out a large-scale air attack on the Nabatieh region."

She continued: "The aircraft launched a series of violent raids in two waves, targeting valleys, highlands, and forests extending between the towns of Kfar Tibnit, Nabatieh al-Fawqa, and Kfar Reman."

The agency added: "The sound of the dropped missiles caused massive explosions that reverberated throughout most areas of Nabatieh and the south."

She noted that the explosions "created an atmosphere of terror and panic among citizens, most of whom rushed to schools to evacuate their students."

The panic also caused traffic jams on the roads, with dozens of ambulances crossing towards the vicinity of the targeted areas, while most official departments (public institutions) closed their doors.

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, in a press statement during a tour of Baalbek Governorate (east) on Thursday, called for an end to Israeli violations "as soon as possible."

Salam explained that his government spared "no diplomatic effort to force Israel to withdraw and stop its violations."

These Israeli raids are the most violent and widespread since the ceasefire agreement came into effect on November 27, 2024, making them an unprecedented escalation in intensity since then.

On October 8, 2023, Israel launched an aggression against Lebanon, which escalated into a full-scale war on September 23, 2024, resulting in more than 4,000 deaths and approximately 17,000 injuries, in addition to the displacement of approximately 1.4 million people.

Since the ceasefire began, Tel Aviv has committed at least 2,775 violations, leaving at least 199 dead and 491 wounded, according to official data.

It reneged on its commitment to complete its withdrawal from southern Lebanon by February 18, in violation of the agreement. Instead, it carried out a partial withdrawal and continues to occupy five major Lebanese hills, within the areas it occupied during the last war.
