OpenAI wants to involve national governments in building AI infrastructure

OpenAI has launched a program called OpenAI for Countries that will enable the development of local artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure by engaging national governments to improve international customer service.

As part of the new program, OpenAI will partner with government sectors to help carry out projects such as building data center capacity and customizing OpenAI products, including ChatGPT, to suit local languages and needs, as reported by Tech Crunch on Thursday.

The program will be funded by OpenAI and also by governments, the tech company said. The initial goal is to launch 10 international projects, though OpenAI has not disclosed the locations of those projects.
