SpaceX's satellite internet service company, Starlink, is said to have directly benefited from the reciprocal tariff policy set by the administration of United States President Donald Trump, according to a leaked memo from the United States State Department.
As reported by Tech Crunch on Thursday, the memos show that the United States is encouraging other countries to adopt Starlink services. Some of the memos show that the countries believe that the move could help smooth their trade and tariff negotiations with the United States.
One memo about the tiny African nation of Lesotho, which has been hit with 50 percent tariffs by the United States, explicitly states that a new 10-year deal with Starlink is part of that strategy.
