PSSI confirms there is no discrimination in building men's and women's national teams

Chairman of the All Indonesia Football Association (PSSI) Erick Thohir emphasized that there is no discrimination from PSSI in building the Indonesian men's and women's national football teams.

"We have the same program (to build) the men's and women's national teams. There is no discrimination between these two programs and we are fully supported by both the government and the private sector," said Erick Thohir in a coordination meeting of Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives with the Ministry of Youth and Sports which was monitored.

In a meeting discussing the naturalization process of four soccer players to strengthen the Indonesian women's national soccer team, Erick explained that the naturalization of the players showed that his party placed the development of the women's national team on the same level as the men's national team.

When building the men's national team, he said, PSSI brought in coaches from abroad, which was also applied in building the women's national team.

PSSI brought in coach Satoru Mochiuki from Japan, who led the Japanese women's national team to win the 2011 Women's World Cup, to coach the Indonesian women's national team.

"So we provide the best coach (for the women's national team)," he said.
