Real Madrid closed the 2024/25 Spanish League season with a 2-0 win over Real Sociedad 2-0 which took place at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, Saturday.
The match was an emotional farewell for coach Carlo Ancelotti, veteran midfielder Luka Modric and captain Lucas Vazquez.
El Real's two winning goals were scored by Kylian Mbappe, which also made him most likely to win the league's top scorer (pinchichi) title this season with 31 goals.
Kylian is ahead of the Barcelona forward who has scored 25 goals, despite still having to play his final game of the season against Athletic Bilbao.
Madrid are guaranteed to finish second with 84 points from 38 games. They are one point behind Barcelona who have already secured the title.
Meanwhile, Sociedad ended the season in 11th place. They earned 46 points, as reported by the official Spanish League website.
Madrid appeared to be pressing early in the match. Kylian Mbappe had a chance after receiving a through ball from Arda Guler, but his shot was still blocked by Sociedad goalkeeper Unai Marrero.
Madrid defender Raul Asencio tried to break the deadlock with a long-range shot in the 21st minute. However, his attempt was saved by Marrero.
Madrid were awarded a penalty in the 38th minute. The referee pointed to the spot after reviewing VAR for Pablo Marin's handball .
