Chairman of the General Elections Commission (KPU) Mochammad Afifuddin said that his party would use a private jet during the 2024 Election to deliver logistics because it only had a short time of 75 days.
In the official KPU press release received. it was explained that the 2024 Election campaign period would only be 75 days, much shorter than the 2019 Election period of 263 days.
This condition requires the KPU to accelerate the distribution of campaign logistics to all regions during the campaign period.
The use of private jets, continued Afifudin, is the right choice so that logistics deliveries run quickly and efficiently.
"In a situation like this, high mobility is a must. Regular transportation modes are not able to meet the required speed, both to the outermost areas and to big cities that have a long voter list, with a busy agenda," said Afifuddin.
Afifudin also responded to criticism that private jets were not used in the Underdeveloped, Frontier, Outermost (3T) areas.
According to him, during the 75-day delivery period, the KPU often experienced obstacles when having to send to areas outside the 3T category, such as visits to three provinces in one day.
"This would be impossible to achieve with regular commercial aircraft, given limited flight schedules and the risk of delays," the press release was quoted as saying.
"The context is not only geographical distance, but also the pursuit of time and efficiency of national coordination. This is purely a technical need, not a lifestyle," Afif added.
Due to these various conditions, Afif and his staff agreed to use jet aircraft services to distribute all election logistics throughout Indonesia.
