Indonesia has stressed that digital innovation in tourism is very important to attract tourists who increasingly rely on technology in planning and conducting travel, especially in the current digital era.
“Digital Tourism Innovation” is the application of digital technology to improve the tourism experience, operational efficiency, and competitiveness of tourism destinations.
According to a press release from the Indonesian Embassy in Pretoria received this was conveyed by the Indonesian delegation represented by the Indonesian Embassy in Pretoria at the "2nd G20 Tourism Working Group" (TWG) in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, 11-13 May 2025.
As a member of the G20, Indonesia is using the momentum in the TWG to demonstrate its commitment to building sustainable, inclusive and innovation-based tourism, as well as strengthening Indonesia's position as a leading tourist destination in the world.
Apart from Indonesia, most of the G20 member countries and other invited countries such as Ireland, Nigeria, the Netherlands, Norway, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) participated in the meeting which was chaired by the Director General of the South African Department of Tourism, Nkhumeleni Victor Vele.
