Saudi Arabia announces that the number of incoming pilgrims has exceeded 1.1 million ahead of the 2025 season.

The General Directorate of Passports explained, via its official account on the X platform, that the total number of pilgrims arriving from abroad by the end of Monday reached 1,102,469 pilgrims, of whom 1,044,341 pilgrims arrived via air ports, 53,850 via land ports, and 4,278 via sea ports.

The influx of pilgrims to the Holy Land is expected to continue in the coming days, as the Kingdom prepares to welcome pilgrims from around the world.

Astronomically, this year's Hajj season is expected to begin on the 8th of Dhu al-Hijjah, corresponding to June 4, 2025 AD, and the rituals will last for six days until the 13th of the Islamic month.

The Saudi Supreme Court is preparing to announce the results of the Dhu al-Hijjah crescent sighting on Tuesday evening, to determine the beginning of the Islamic month during which Hajj rituals are performed.

On Monday, the Supreme Court called on Muslims in the Kingdom to watch for the crescent moon on Tuesday evening. It urged anyone who sights it with the naked eye or through binoculars to report to the nearest court to register their testimony or coordinate with the nearest center for assistance.

It is noteworthy that the number of pilgrims during last year's season (1445 AH / 2024 AD) reached 1,833,164 pilgrims, including 221,854 from within the Kingdom, according to what was announced by the Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Tawfiq Al-Rabiah, who confirmed that the incoming pilgrims came from more than 200 countries.
