Sudan: Deaths after Rapid Support Forces bombed a hospital in North Kordofan State

The Emergency Lawyers' Association said in a statement that a drone bombed Al-Abyad-Al-Daman Hospital, killing six people and wounding 15 others, including patients, companions, and medical staff.

The statement indicated that the bombing caused extensive damage to the hospital and halted its services, exacerbating the health situation in the city.

The Commission affirmed that this attack constitutes a war crime and a serious violation of international humanitarian law, holding the Rapid Support Forces responsible and demanding that their leaders be held accountable.

There was no immediate comment from the Rapid Support Forces, and the official authorities had not confirmed the death toll as of 09:55 GMT.

Earlier today, El Obeid Hospital declared itself out of service after being attacked by a Rapid Support Forces drone, causing significant damage to the hospital located in El Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan state.

On May 15, a drone belonging to the same forces targeted the Military Medical Hospital in El Obeid, resulting in deaths and injuries, according to Sudanese authorities.

For some time, Sudanese authorities have accused the Rapid Support Forces of launching drone attacks on civilian facilities, including power plants and infrastructure in the country's northern and eastern cities, without comment from the latter.

Since mid-April 2023, the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces have been waging a war that has left more than 20,000 dead and approximately 15 million displaced and refugees, according to the United Nations and local authorities. A study conducted by American universities estimated the death toll at approximately 130,000.
