McLaren driver Lando Norris was the fastest and beat Red Bull jockey Max Verstappen from Red Bull and Ferrari rider Lewis Hamilton in the first free practice session (FP1) of the Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix.
In the session held at the Circuit de Catalunya, Barcelona, Friday night WIB, the official F1 website recorded Norris recording a lap time of 1 minute 13.718 seconds.
With the new wing usage rules set for this GP, a number of teams are very busy making component changes.
Entering this session, a number of teams on average used hard C1 type tires to face the sunny weather in Barcelona.
Norris immediately shot to the front after surpassing Fernando Alonso's record with a time of 1 minute 15.259 seconds.
This record did not last long after Kick Sauber racer Nico Hulkenberg surpassed Norris.
