Chairman of the Indonesian General Election Commission (KPU) Mochammad Afifuddin together with the Chairman of the Indonesian Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) Rahmat Bagja directly monitored preparations for the implementation of the re-vote (PSU) for the Pilkada in Palopo City, South Sulawesi, which will take place.
"We all hope that the PSU will run safely and conducively. Whoever is elected, that is the best of the people's choice. Let's keep Palopo City conducive," said the Chairman of the KPU RI Mochammad Afifuddin through his press release received in Makassar, Friday.
He explained that currently the South Sulawesi KPU has taken over the duties of the Palopo City KPU in organizing the PSU for the Palopo Pilkada, in accordance with the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) regarding the dispute over the results of the simultaneous Pilkada on November 27 in Palopo City in 2024.
"This PSU is an important moment to strengthen local democracy, as well as a test for all parties to maintain election integrity and regional stability," he said.
Afifuddin also expressed his appreciation to the South Sulawesi Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) for its support and attention in helping to make the implementation of the PSU in Palopo City a success.
