Palestinian media reported that Israeli warplanes launched a series of violent raids in the areas separating the cities of Khan Yunis and Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, resulting in deaths and injuries.
In Khan Yunis specifically, an Israeli airstrike targeted the burns department in the Independence Building of the city's Nasser Medical Complex. It later emerged that the airstrike had targeted journalist Aslih's room, where he was receiving treatment for injuries sustained last month in a direct attack.

On April 7, a journalists' tent in Khan Yunis was directly targeted by Israeli forces, causing a fire and seriously injuring Aslih, who was subsequently transferred for treatment.
The fire consumed three of his colleagues, Ahmed Mansour, Helmi Al-Faqawi, and Youssef Al-Khazindar, while Aslih himself was injured by shrapnel in his head and suffered a serious wound to his hand.
With American support, Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023, leaving more than 172,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 11,000 missing.
