The occupation targets Nasser Hospital in Gaza, and the number of martyred journalists rises to 215.

In a statement, the ministry condemned "the heinous crime committed by the Israeli occupation forces at dawn on Tuesday against patients and the wounded, by directly targeting the surgical building at Nasser Medical Complex, which led to the martyrdom of two Palestinians and the injury of other patients and wounded while they were receiving treatment." The ministry explained that among the wounded were medical staff working at Nasser Complex.

She considered Israel's repeated targeting of hospitals, its pursuit of the wounded, and its killing of them inside treatment rooms "a deliberate attempt to inflict greater damage on the health care system and a threat to the ability to treat the wounded and sick in their hospital beds."

Bombing of Nasser Medical Complex

Meanwhile, the government media office in Gaza condemned the direct Israeli shelling of the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip, on Tuesday, describing it as a dangerous escalation and "a full-fledged war crime that requires urgent accountability before international justice."

The office said in a statement that the Israeli occupation forces targeted Nasser Hospital, the largest hospital in the Gaza Strip, at dawn, killing wounded patients receiving treatment there, including journalist Hassan Aslih, and wounding others.

He said, "The Israeli occupation forces have once again bombed the Nasser Medical Complex, committing a complex crime that resulted in the deaths of wounded people receiving treatment and the injury of others inside an internationally protected health facility."

He considered the targeting of the Nasser complex a "flagrant violation of all international laws and humanitarian conventions, most notably the Geneva Conventions, which prohibit the targeting of health and medical facilities."

He pointed out that the Israeli targeting of medical personnel and journalists "reveals the extent of the moral and legal decline practiced by the occupation, and exposes the falsity of all its claims related to its commitment to protecting civilians."

The office held Israel "fully responsible for this crime," calling on international and UN institutions to "pressure for an immediate and serious investigation into this crime and work to halt the systematic targeting of medical facilities in the Gaza Strip."

He also called on the international community and international justice institutions, including the International Criminal Court, to "take urgent action to document and hold accountable the Israeli occupation and its criminal leaders for these heinous crimes against journalists, civilians, and medical personnel."

Earlier, the government office announced that the number of journalist martyrs had risen to 215, following the death of journalist Hassan Aslih in an Israeli attack targeting him while he was receiving treatment at Nasser Hospital.

He explained that the Israeli occupation army "assassinated Aslih in a targeted attack while he was receiving treatment inside Nasser Medical Complex, after he had been injured in a previous assassination attempt and was still receiving treatment."

Over the months of the genocide, the Nasser Medical Complex was subjected to repeated Israeli bombardment and was stormed by Israeli forces during the ground operation in the area in February and March 2024, which rendered it out of service at the time.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has continued its widespread war of extermination against the Palestinians of the Gaza Strip, including killing, destruction, starvation, and forced displacement, ignoring international calls and orders from the International Court of Justice to halt it.

This US-backed war left more than 172,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 11,000 missing.
