Timo Scheunemann suggests women's league should not have too many participating teams

Professional soccer coach Timo Scheunemann suggested that the professional women's soccer league should not have too many participating teams in order to maintain the sustainability of the teams and the climate of women's soccer.

"I actually see that ideally the pro league doesn't need to have many teams, for example just eight cities, and is connected to universities. So they play pro and also play on university teams. So there is a university league, but there is also a pro league with players who are roughly the same," Scheunemann told Antara at the Kong Soccer Arena.

"Parents are more likely to support their children if there is a guarantee of education. So they can see football as a pathway to university," he continued.

With a small number of participating teams, the competition is not too long. According to Scheunemann, this is more realistic to implement in Indonesia, because generally a female athlete at a certain age is married and faced with other obligations.
