This came in statements to the American Fox News channel, prior to his departure from the United Arab Emirates on Saturday, the final stop on his Middle East tour.
Trump explained that the leaders of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE, whom he met during his tour, raised the issue of Gaza residents' lack of access to food. He continued, "People are dying of hunger in Gaza. I've started working on this issue. It's a profound problem, but we will solve it."
Since March 2, Israel has closed the Gaza Strip's crossings to humanitarian aid, pushing approximately 2.4 million Palestinians into a state of famine.
With full American support, Israel has been committing genocidal crimes in Gaza since October 7, 2023, leaving more than 173,000 Palestinians dead or wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 11,000 missing, in addition to hundreds of thousands displaced.
Regarding the war between Russia and Ukraine, Trump stressed the need for him to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the conflict. He added, "Putin is tired of war, and my relationship with him is very good. I think we will reach an agreement. We should meet, and I think we will start planning for that soon."
Regarding his tense meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the US President said: "I had a difficult conversation with Zelensky because I didn't like what he was saying and he wasn't making things easy."
Since February 24, 2022, Russia has launched a military offensive against its neighbor, Ukraine, and has made ending the offensive conditional on Kyiv abandoning its membership in Western military entities. Kyiv considers this to be "interference" in its affairs.
Regarding the Syrian issue, Trump explained that he decided to lift sanctions on Damascus after his talks in Saudi Arabia. He explained that the leaders he met during his Middle East tour told him that "Syria cannot recover because of the sanctions," and that he therefore decided to lift those sanctions to give Syria and its new president, Ahmed al-Sharaa, "a chance."
Commenting on his meeting with Sharaa in Riyadh, he said, "I met the new leader of Syria. He is a very handsome man, young and handsome."
