The aggression is expanding and buildings are being bombed continuously in Gaza. 153 martyrs in one day, and health services are threatened with a complete shutdown

The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced in a statement on Saturday that "153 martyrs (including 7 recovered) and 459 injured people arrived at Gaza Strip hospitals in the past 24 hours." The ministry explained that "the death toll from the conflict since (Israel resumed its genocide on) March 18, 2025, has reached 3,131 martyrs and 8,632 injured."

She noted that the death toll from the Israeli aggression has risen to 53,272 martyrs and 120,673 wounded since October 7, 2023. She noted that "a number of victims remain under the rubble and on the roads, unable to be reached by ambulances and civil defense crews."

Bombing tents and hospitals

A medical source reported that three Palestinians were killed in an airstrike that targeted a house in the Tal al-Zaatar area of Jabalia camp, north of the Gaza Strip, at dawn on Saturday. Eyewitnesses said that Israeli airstrikes targeted a house east of Jabalia camp, leaving several Palestinians injured or missing.

Witnesses reported that the Israeli occupation army carried out "massive" bombing operations in the northern governorate, some of which targeted the vicinity of Al-Awda private hospital in the Tel al-Zaatar area. The army also detonated an explosive-laden robot in the same area.

In the southern Gaza Strip, a medical source said that two Palestinians were killed and four others were injured in an Israeli airstrike that targeted a gathering of civilians near the Islamic University in the Ma'an area, east of Khan Yunis. A Palestinian was also killed in an Israeli drone strike on the town of Al-Fakhari, east of Khan Yunis. Five Palestinians, including a girl and a pregnant woman, were injured in an airstrike on a tent housing displaced persons, west of Khan Yunis.

Six Palestinians were also killed and others injured in an Israeli airstrike on the town of Bani Suhaila, east of Khan Yunis. Israeli warplanes also launched raids on the town of Al-Qarara, northeast of the city. A medical source indicated that a child died of wounds he sustained in an Israeli airstrike on a vehicle in the town of Al-Fakhari, east of Khan Yunis, on Friday.

Eyewitnesses said that the occupation army carried out bombing operations in Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip, while its helicopters opened heavy fire east of the city.

In the Central Governorate, a medical source said a Palestinian was killed and others were injured in an Israeli shelling of a tent housing displaced persons near Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah. Eyewitnesses reported that Israeli artillery shelled areas southeast of Deir al-Balah amid intense gunfire.

Several Palestinians were injured in Israeli shelling near the Andalus Tower, northwest of Gaza City. Two Palestinians were also killed in two airstrikes east of Gaza City, the first targeting a gathering of civilians in the Zeitoun neighborhood, and the second targeting a house in the Shuja'iyya neighborhood.

This comes hours after the army announced the expansion of its genocide in the Gaza Strip, launching extensive strikes as part of what it called Operation "Gideon's Wagons," to occupy all of Gaza, according to a report by the Israeli Broadcasting Authority on May 5.

According to the commission, this operation, which is likely to last for several months, includes "the complete evacuation of the entire population of Gaza from combat zones, including northern Gaza, to areas in the southern Gaza Strip," where the army will "remain" in any area it "occupies."

Health service suspension

Amid the ongoing Israeli escalation, Raafat Al-Majdalawi, director of the Return Health and Community Association in the Gaza Strip, warned in a statement on Saturday that the association's services "are threatened with a complete halt in the coming days due to the lack of medical supplies for more than 70 days."

The association provides its services through Al-Awda Hospital in the northern and central Gaza Strip, as well as primary healthcare and community protection centers spread across the Strip's governorates. Al-Majdalawi emphasized that the shortage of medical supplies will affect the services already provided at a minimal level.

He added that, in addition to the shortage of medical supplies, "Al-Awda Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip has not received any diesel fuel supplies since April 17, and the hospital in the central Gaza Strip has not received fuel since February 17," noting that the association has begun "austerity measures to manage the available fuel stock."

It also announced that seven out of nine ambulances have stopped operating due to fuel shortages, and that working hours at primary healthcare and community protection centers have been reduced to conserve diesel, according to the statement. It called on relevant parties to provide "the necessary medical supplies and fuel to continue providing services at their health and community facilities and centers."

The humanitarian situation is worsening

In the same context, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk said in a statement on Friday that there has been a significant increase in Israeli attacks and the number of deaths in Gaza this week, including attacks targeting hospitals.

He added that the intensive Israeli attacks have exacerbated the already dire humanitarian situation, calling for international action to prevent further casualties.

Türk stated that the threats of massive attacks, the systematic destruction of entire buildings, the displacement of residents, and the denial of humanitarian aid point to a push toward permanent demographic change in Gaza, which contravenes international law and amounts to ethnic cleansing. The UN official stated that hunger caused by the Israeli blockade is worsening, stressing that "this madness must stop."

Over the past five days, Israel has intensified its genocidal campaign in the Gaza Strip, committing dozens of horrific massacres. This coincided with US President Donald Trump's tour of the region, during which he promised Gaza's Palestinians "a better future and an end to hunger."

Since March 18, Israel has resumed its genocidal crimes by launching violent, large-scale airstrikes, most of which targeted civilians, including homes and tents housing displaced Palestinians.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel—with full American support—has been committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza, coupled with a stifling blockade that has plunged the Strip into unprecedentedly dire humanitarian conditions.
