Turkish Foreign Minister to Visit Russia on Monday, Meet Putin and Lavrov

According to sources in the Turkish Foreign Ministry, Fidan will meet with Lavrov and Russian President Vladimir Putin during his two-day visit.

The Turkish minister is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with other high-ranking officials, including Defense Minister Belousov and Vice President Vladimir Medinsky , who led the Russian delegation to the Russian-Ukrainian negotiations in Istanbul on May 16, 2025.

The sources added that Fidan will discuss in detail issues related to bilateral relations between the two countries, review the current situation in key areas of bilateral cooperation, such as trade, energy, and tourism, and assess possible steps to be taken.

It will affirm Türkiye's commitment to achieving a just and lasting peace in the war between Russia and Ukraine, and to playing a mediating role in the negotiations that will bring the parties together, as it did in 2022 and again on May 16.

Views are also scheduled to be exchanged on regional and international issues, including Syria, Gaza, and the South Caucasus.

It is noteworthy that Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan visited Russia on June 10 and 11, 2024, to attend the BRICS meeting.

He then attended the BRICS summit held on October 24, 2024, accompanied by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

The last meeting between Fidan and his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, was on April 12, 2025, on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomatic Forum.
