The Israeli occupation army said in a statement, "Sergeant Yishai Elyakim Orbach (20 years old), a soldier in the 605th Engineering Battalion, was killed in a battle in the southern Gaza Strip."
According to a statement by the occupation army, "Sergeant First Class Yam Farid (21 years old), a soldier in the Golani Brigade, was also killed in a battle in the southern Gaza Strip."
The occupation forces reported that a soldier from the 605th Engineering Battalion was seriously injured in the incident in which Orbach was killed.
He said: "In the incident in which Farid was killed, a combat officer in the Golani Brigade, a combat officer in the 605th Engineering Battalion, and a soldier in the 605th Engineering Battalion, Barak Formation (188) were seriously wounded.
However, the Israeli news website "The Times of Israel" reported that according to a preliminary investigation conducted by the occupation army, in the first incident, Hamas members fired an RPG at a building in the Al-Janina neighborhood of Rafah (south), killing Orbach and wounding two others.
The second incident occurred about two hours later in the same area, according to the Hebrew website.
According to an Israeli military investigation, "an armored personnel carrier was hit by an explosive device, killing Farid and wounding four other soldiers."
The death toll of Israeli soldiers whose names the army has permitted to be published since October 7, 2023, has risen to 856, including six since the resumption of the genocide in Gaza on March 18, according to Israeli army data.
Data indicates that 5,851 Israeli soldiers have been injured since October 7, including 2,643 in ground fighting in the Gaza Strip.
In early March, the first phase of a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement between Hamas and Israel concluded. The agreement, which went into effect on January 19, 2025, was brokered by Egypt and Qatar and supported by the United States, and the Palestinian movement adhered to it.
However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is wanted by the International Criminal Court, evaded the start of the second phase and resumed the genocide in Gaza on March 18, responding to the demands of the most extreme faction within his right-wing government to advance his own political interests, according to Hebrew media.
