Venezia climb out of relegation zone, beat Fiorentina 2-1.

Venezia managed to escape the relegation zone after beating Fiorentina with a narrow score of 2-1 in the continuation of the 36th week of the 2024/25 Italian League at the Pier Luigi Penzo Stadium.

Venezia managed to take the lead through goals from Fali Cande and Gaetano Oristanio. Fiorentina could only reply through a goal from Rolando Mandragora.

These three points made Jay Idzes and his friends rise to 17th place, or one level above the relegation zone with 29 points.

They are one point ahead of Lecce and Empoli in the race for Serie A survival next season with two games remaining.

Meanwhile, Fiorentina failed to approach the European competition zone and is stuck in ninth place with 59 points, as reported by the official Italian League website.

The first chance was created by Fiorentina in the 6th minute through Marin Pongaric's shot, but it still missed David De Gea's goal.

Venezia threatened back in the 10th minute. A pass from Indonesian national team defender Jay Idzes went to Mikael Egill Ellertsson.

However, the Icelandic player's shot from the left side of the penalty box was still saved by David De Gea.

In the 27th minute, it was Venezia goalkeeper Ionut Radu's turn to make a save after thwarting Nicolo Fagioli's shot from close range.

Both teams attacked each other, but no goals were scored until the first half ended. The score was 0-0.
