West Bank: Occupation forces demolish 4 residential buildings in Nour Shams camp and arrest 7 young men in Ramallah

The Israeli occupation forces blew up four residential buildings in the Nur Shams refugee camp, east of Tulkarm city in the northern occupied West Bank, on Saturday, according to camp activist Suleiman al-Zuhairi. He explained that the buildings are located in the al-Manshiya neighborhood of the camp, and each consists of approximately five apartments. The buildings were not previously notified to their owners of the planned demolition.

Al-Zuhairi continued, "We heard the sounds of four loud explosions resulting from the demolition operation," noting that the army "had been notified of the demolition of other buildings in the same neighborhood, but the demolition targeted buildings that had not received Israeli notifications."

In early May, the Israeli occupation army announced its intention to demolish 106 Palestinian buildings in the Tulkarm and Nur Shams refugee camps. The announcement was accompanied by maps showing the targeted homes in red, and a copy was delivered to the relevant Palestinian authorities.

Meanwhile, clashes erupted with Israeli occupation forces on Saturday evening in the town of Al-Mazra'a al-Gharbiya, northwest of Ramallah.

The Palestinian News Agency, WAFA, quoted security sources as saying that an Israeli army force stormed the town of Al-Mazra'a al-Gharbiya, sparking clashes. No injuries were reported. The sources added that Israeli forces also stormed the town of Kobar, northwest of Ramallah, without any arrests or raids being reported.

WAFA also reported that Israeli occupation forces arrested 7 young men from the town of Beitunia, west of Ramallah.

On Saturday, the occupation army imposed a closure on the village of Al-Mughayyir, northeast of the city of Ramallah in the central occupied West Bank. Amin Abu Aliya, head of the Al-Mughayyir village council, said in press statements that "the occupation army closed the iron gate erected at the village's only entrance, located on its western side, at dawn today, and prevented entry and exit."

Abu Aliya explained that the occupation forces prevented vehicles from passing, including an ambulance transporting patients to the hospital. He pointed out that "the western entrance to Al-Mughayyir is the only one for entry and exit, after Israel closed the eastern entrance after October 7, 2023."

He pointed out that, coinciding with the closure, the army raided several homes in the village, searched them, and ransacked their contents, including the home of brothers Abdul Latif and Rasmi Abu Aliya.

Meanwhile, WAFA quoted security sources as saying that a group of settlers, under the protection of occupation forces, attacked the Khalayel area in the village of al-Mughayyir, assaulting members of the Abu Hammam family residing in the area. No injuries were reported.

On Friday, settlers burned crops and some trees in the eastern part of the village of Al-Mughayyir, according to Abu Aliya.

In parallel with the genocidal war in Gaza, the Israeli occupation army and settlers have escalated their attacks in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, resulting in the deaths of more than 962 Palestinians, the injury of nearly 7,000 others, and the arrest of more than 17,000 Palestinians, according to Palestinian data.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been waging a massive war of genocide against the population of the Gaza Strip, including killing, destruction, starvation, and forced displacement, ignoring all international appeals and orders from the International Court of Justice to halt it. This US-backed war has left more than 172,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 11,000 missing.
