The West Java Regional Police are investigating allegations of negligence in the landslide incident at a Class C mining site in Gunung Kuda, Cirebon, which resulted in dozens of fatalities.
West Java Police Chief Inspector General of Police Rudi Setiawan in Cirebon, Saturday, said the investigation into the landslide incident was to follow up on the governor's revocation of the Mining Business Permit (IUP) for three mining companies in the area.
He explained that the investigation process has been ongoing since the day after the incident occurred. A number of witnesses have been questioned to uncover the cause of the mining accident which is suspected to have been triggered by mining methods that are not in accordance with procedures.
"Since yesterday, several witnesses have been questioned to find out the cause of this incident. We received information that there was an error in the mining method," he said.
