Axios: Israel has been calling on the United States to join the war against Iran for the past two days

Axios reported, citing Israeli officials, that Tel Aviv has been calling on the United States over the past two days to join the "war against Iran to destroy its nuclear program."

The website explained: "Over the past 48 hours, Israel has asked the Trump administration to join the war with Iran to eliminate its nuclear program."

According to an Axios source, "The United States could join the operation against Iran if necessary, and Trump offered such assistance to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in one of his recent conversations with him."

The website indicated, quoting an Israeli official, that "the United States is considering the request." Another US official confirmed, quoting another US official, that "the Trump administration is not currently considering entering into a conflict."

US President Donald Trump recently told Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the United States would consider striking Iran's underground Fordow nuclear facility if such a move became necessary to prevent Tehran from obtaining a nuclear weapon, Israeli journalist Barak Ravid told Channel 12.

According to Israeli officials, Trump conveyed this message to Netanyahu in phone calls over the past few weeks, adding that the Fordo facility may be beyond Israel's military capability to destroy without external assistance.

However, Rafid confirmed that "the White House officially denied that Trump was considering launching a US strike, indicating that the current time is not appropriate for launching an attack on Iran."

Israeli officials believe that Tel Aviv is capable of concluding military operations against Iran "within a few days" at the current rate of attacks.

Iran launched a new attack on Israel late Saturday night, a day after launching missiles targeting various locations. Iranian television confirmed that the Revolutionary Guards' air force launched a combined attack on Israel with ballistic missiles and drones.

For its part, the Israeli military announced that its air force attacked military targets in the Iranian capital, Tehran, simultaneously with intercepting missiles launched from Iran.
